About Grandfields

Since opening on November 20, 1992, Grandfields has been guided by a single idea: a championship course built around the principles of the Japanese garden. Set in the western foothills of Fuji-Hakone-Izu National Park, our 18 holes weave world-standard difficulty — Course Rate 74.9, Slope Rating 141 — together with the landscape traditions that have accumulated in Japan since the Heian period.

Wabi-sabi, the passage of the four seasons, the concentrated art of nature, asymmetric balance, the technique of borrowed scenery — fourteen principles shape the course. Mount Fuji, Suruga Bay, the Izu Peninsula, the lights of Mishima and Numazu below: all are drawn in as part of the landscape. A cultural heritage you can play.
